A visit to Bruges has been on my bucket-list for the longest time, so when we were invited to join friends for a trip to the Christmas Market in Bruges we jumped at the opportunity and, boy am I glad we did!

Bruges is the most photogenic of cities and at Christmas time it really shows off.  There is a photo-worthy sight to see around every corner.  I was completely charmed by the place!

The waffles are to die for!!

And the cheese is fab-u-lous!

The Christmas market is lovely, not too huge, but plenty to see.

A canal cruise is highly recommended, but bundle up, it gets cold out there.

I definitely want to add a Summer visit to Bruges to my loooooong list of places to go and things to do.

We love visiting Hughenden, especially when they are offering trails for the kids to do.  The trails are always well thought out, with lots of attention to detail and the kiddies have great fun following the hints around the estate.  There is a lovely playground at Hughenden and a fabulous cafe.  The house is well worth a visit, although we didn't go inside on this occasion.  The gardens are also lovely.

Buckinghamshire Railway Centre - A Day out with Thomas

Today we took the grandchildren on a little adventure - we went to the Buckinghamshire Railway Centre for their "Day Out with Thomas" Event.

There was SO much on offer at this event!  There were hands-on craft type activities, face-painting, fairground tea-cups, train rides, mini-train rides, loads of railway things to see and photo opportunities aplenty, to name a few.  Our kiddos were kept entertained from the moment we arrived until we left, exhausted, several hours later.

Our little granddaughter is autistic and something that I really appreciated was that the activities were spread over a large area, with plenty of quiet spots for us to retreat to when she becamed overwhelmed.

I highly recommend the Buckinghamshire Railway Centre for a fun outing with kids, it definitely exceeded our expectations today.

Today we spent the morning at Wendover Woods.  Wendover Woods has so much to offer and we only scratched the surface on our little jaunt today.  There are various trails (including a Gruffalo trail for the kiddies, you can buy the map at the information kiosk) several walking trails and a fitness trail,  as well as Go Ape - a tree top rope course.  Today we focussed on the Play trail as we were with the littles and didn't feel like being too adventurous.

The play trail has so many fun features for the children to explore, our little ones had an absolute ball.

Time for a little picnic

There is a cafe on site and various picnic spots as well.  Such a fun spot for a family day out, I can see us spending loads of time at Wendover Woods.
