While spending the weekend in East Sussex, we went on a little jaunt to Rye.  None of us had ever been to Rye and we all thoroughly enjoyed our day there.  A town filled with gorgeous, ancient buildings, fascinating history and oodles of charm.

The Seven Sisters walk.

A couple of years ago our daughter and son-in-law did a Seven Sisters cliff hike and came home filled with enthusiasm and with the most gorgeous photos of their day.  We instantly added a walk along the Seven Sisters to our bucket list!  Unfortunately, as with most things on our bucket lists, life got in the way and we never thought too much more of it.  Until said daughter and son-in-law invited us to join them for a weekend jaunt to Hastings and suggested that we include a Seven Sisters walk in our plans.  We jumped at the opportunity and so last weekend found ourselves setting off from Beachy Head, in the South Downs National Park, in a light drizzle.

The drizzle soon cleared and we were left with a lovely, if rather warm, day and views that took our breath away!

We stopped at Birling Gap for a much-needed loo break and a lovely ice-cream, before continuing on our way.

Our plan had been to end our walk at Seaford, but having stopped at the Cuckmere Inn for an ice cold drink and a bite to eat we found that the spirit was willing but the flesh was weak.... by then it was really hot and we were tired!  So the decision was made to catch the bus back to our car at Beachy Head after lunch, a decision that was met with unanimous approval all round.

We absolutely loved this walk and highly recommend it.  We are already planning to walk it again (but not in a heat wave this time!)
