We just returned from a lovely trip to Albufeira, Portugal with our daughter and son-in-law. It was the first time in Portugal for our family and has left us wanting to see more of the country.
We spent the week at Clube Albufeira Garden Village, a time-share resort on the outskirts of Albufeira, and we really enjoyed the resort. The units weren't particularly fancy, but were perfectly adequate for our needs. There were lovely swimming pools, a number of restaurants, as well as a little shop at the resort.

We opted to use Uber for our transport, instead of hiring a car, and this served us well - our Uber rides were cheap and we had no problems.
We spent a day in Albufeira town, catching the little tourist train, wandering along the beach, in the old town and along the strip. We loved the old town area, but the strip wasn't our favourite.
We spent quite a lot of time relaxing at the resort and enjoying the down-time.
On our second to last day we went to Praia dos Arrifes which was a really beautiful way to spend a day. We got there early and managed to nab sunbeds where we lazed for much of the day, surveying the beautiful view of the ocean. We did go for a dip or two, but found the water quite cold (being former South Africans, from the east coast of South Africa, we are used to the warm temps of the Indian Ocean!) We enjoyed lunch at the restaurant on the beach and they made a lovely white sangria.
We will definitely be making a return trip to Clube Albufeira and plan to visit more beaches next time around.
